DETECTIVES were last night hunting a gunman who raided a bookie’s in King Cross, Halifax.

Officers were called to Coral bookmaker’s on King Cross Road at 4.20pm to reports of a robbery. The raider was armed with what is believed to be a handgun and fled the busy shop with cash.

One of the customers, who did not want to be named, said: “I heard someone saying ‘Give us your money’. This guy was standing there with a pistol. I don’t know if it was real but you don’t want to know. It was scary.”

A police spokeswoman said the suspect was believed to have had a handgun and made off towards Fenton Road. He is described as an Asian man, in his late teens or early 20s.
