Black labrador Velvet is a lifeline for owner Lottie Wilcocks, of Elland, who has used a wheelchair all her life after she was born with spina bifida and hydocephalus.

Kind-hearted strangers mobilised on social media to try and find Lottie’s canine companion, who went missing last Wednesday evening.

The news was made all the more special as aspiring Paralympian Lottie celebrates her 16 birthday tomorrow.
