Halifax is the only town in West Yorkshire to hold a Purple Flag award - a marker that that its centre is a safe and welcoming place for a night out.

And the Nut House, Silver Street, is celebrating after the Purple Flag team gave the bar a big thumbs up on a recent visit.

Owner Eduardo Shahsavar said: “They liked the way the Nut House didn’t look like a chain bar.

“We were told that it’s important for a town to be diverse.

“They told me it was the nicest bar they had seen.

“It makes all the hard work we have put into it really worthwhile.”
