Additionally, National Grid donated £30k in total, with a chunk from their Bringing Energy to Life (BETL) community fund. The BETL scheme allows schools and community groups affected by works to apply for special grants. This grant was a result of on-going works across Halifax and Blackburn to regenerate 60km of overhead electricity lines
Becky Schofield, Head of Barkisland Primary School said:
“This running track is the result of an entire community effort! Everyone has been so supportive during our fundraising mission and it is great to see the track in use.

National Grid’s Project Manager, Stuart Grindle, said:
“We’re thrilled to see the children enjoying the track. It’s great to see first-hand what a meaningful difference our Bringing Energy to Life community fund can make.
"Any time we commence works we’re mindful of how it can impact the local community. Over the years, hundreds of children stand to benefit from the track and we hope it inspires a generation of athletes!”
