Thieves armed with a baseball bat smashed their way into a Halifax jewellery shop.
Detectives are appealing for help finding the gang of three who escaped with a haul of high-value jewellery from Mirpur Jewellers in Queen’s Road.
The culprits – all wearing balaclavas – prised open the roller shutter at the front of the shop before smashing the glass front.
They left in a silver Vauxhall Astra which police found a few hours later dumped in Hare Street off Hopwood Lane.
The car had false plates with the registration BD57 DPK and had been stolen from Oldham on December 28.
This is the second time the jeweller’s shop has been raided in less than 12 months.
On January 26 last year, a masked gang with sledgehammers burst in and escaped with gold worth several thousand pounds.
Detective Inspector Ashley Hewitt, from Calderdale CID, urged anyone who saw the robbery, which happened at 12.15am on Saturday, or anyone acting suspiciously in the area to get in touch.
They also want to hear from anyone who saw the Astra in the area before the raid or when it was dumped.
Anyone who can help should call Calderdale CID on 01422 337085 or via 101.
Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
