Villagers paid tribute to a woman who has been at the hub of community life for 54 years.
Beattie Horsfall has dedicated a large part of her life to Norwood Green where she lived with her husband, Wilf.
She was recently widowed and has now moved to the Huddersfield area.
But, her efforts in the community were recognised and she was presented with artwork and money in appreciation of her work by the Norwood Green Residents’ Association.
She has been involved with the Good Companions Club, and was a driving force being villagers buying the village hall.
The closure of the churches in Norwood Green left a void in the life of the village and therefore the modernisation of the hall provided excellent facilities for functions.
She also led a campaign against the closure of the bus service through the village, resulting in a limited service to Halifax being reinstated.
Wilf has supported her through the years and she has now decided to live nearer family.
