A Halifax teenager will represent the UK on the world stage when she competes in the finals of an international beauty pageant.
Atlanta McBride, from Pellon, currently holds the title of ‘Miss Eco United Kingdom’ and will now travel across the world as part of her role.
The pretty 18-year-old, who has just completed her A levels at Ryburn Valley High School, Sowerby, will compete against girls from across the globe to scoop the international title in Egypt next year.
It’s the first global pageant Atlanta has taken part in, but judges at the ‘Miss UK Beautiful’ pageant saw her potential to represent her country on a worldwide scale.
And Atlanta can’t wait to get going.
She said: “This pageant is all about the wellbeing of the earth and promoting eco tourism - it’s about trying to keep it sustainable.
“I really like the fact that it’s not just about the glitz, it’s something that actually means something to me.
“I’ll be going to China in November and Egypt in March to take part in the international stage of the Miss Eco pageant as the UK representative.
“I only started in October and the international pageant is a step up. It can take a long time to get there and it’s on a really big scale.
“It’s nice to see some of the world while doing something I love.”
In the run up to the grand finale, Atlanta will take part in appearances to promote the eco-friendly ethos of the pageant.
And it will be a busy year for Atlanta. As well as juggling the glitz and glamour of the pageant world, she will also study business at Huddersfield University.
