A HALIFAX chef will put his culinary talents to the test in next week’s Masterchef: The Professionals on BBC Two.
Ben Varley, head chef at Churchill’s Restaurant at The Rock Hotel, Holywell Green, has been selected from more than 1,000 applicants to appear in the fourth series of the popular TV show.
Halifax-born Ben said: “Taking part in Masterchef: The Professionals has been a complete emotional roller coaster, but a brilliant experience. I was really proud to be able to represent Halifax, Yorkshire and Churchill’s in such a prestigious competition. I’m not yet allowed to say anything about the results though”.
He will make his first appearance in the programme in the second round of heats starting on Monday November 14, cooking for Michelin-starred Michel Roux Jr and Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace and Michel’s trusted sous chef Monica Galetti. Monday’s Invention Test involves creating a dish in 50 minutes from six ingredients: prawns, mango, lime, chilli, micro coriander and a chocolate bar.
MasterChef: The Professionals continues tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.
