Big savings for Metaldyne

Metaldyne specialises in the design, manufacture and repair of viscous dampers for niche engine markets and was spending a significant sum on its electricity and gas bills - approximately £520,000 per year.

But having joined the 6C scheme - launched by Calderdale Council and energy broker Orchard Energy - they are set to save around £225,000, a 22 per cent reduction in energy costs per annum.

The 6C scheme has been specifically designed for Calderdale businesses and brings local companies together that want to reduce their overheads and play an important part in improving their local environment.

Matthew Sykes, maintenance leader at Metaldyne, said: “We enlisted the help of 6C after hearing about Orchard Energy’s expertise in securing large refunds and its good customer service.

“We were able to enter into a co-operative with other local businesses. Even though we’re part of a global business, we look after our own utility bills at our Halifax site and through the scheme we can benefit in a number of ways including automatic entry into the council’s environmental business awards scheme.

“Signing up was straightforward and hassle-free and the savings will help towards the company’s overall savings targets.”
