Queensbury’s Black Dyke Band has added the English title to the European championship trophy it won in May.

It was a convincing victory at the English National Championship held in Preston.

Principal conductor and director of music Dr Nicholas Childs said he was delighted to lead the talented musicians and the success was built on the back of hard work.

The band had previously been busy performing in five concerts following the European Championships success in Rotterdam.

“Things are very good at present and I will try my best to keep it that way,” said Dr Childs.

The band has now returned to the top of the 4BR/World of Brass rankings.

The test piece was “Masquerade” (Philip Wilby) and Black Dyke’s own choice selection was “Revelation” (also Philip Wilby).

Leyland Band was runner-up with Foden’s in third place.
