Fire crews from Halifax, Illingworth, and Elland were among those called to tackle a huge blaze at Colne Mills, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield.

The two-storey derelict mill covering 100 metres x 150 metres was due to be demolished.

The blaze began at 8.30 pm and huge plumes of smoke could be seen over a wide distance.

More than 50 firefighters fought the blaze and brought it under control shortly before 10 pm.

The mill was going to be demolished to make way for a new Aldi store.
