THE first-ever Blues festival in Hebden Bridge has drawn to a close.

Headline act Texan Lance Lopez made his first performance in Britain and wowed the crowds.

The festival opened with a showing of movies about the Blues at the Trades Club. Headline act Jon Amor Blues Group packed out the Trades Club and was supported by Poor Boy. The highlight of the first night was the first of a series of midnight jams, hosted by Paddy Maguire.

The Women of Blues night was a sell-out at Hebden Bridge Picture House and there were packed houses across the town.

Organiser Jason Elliot said: “The inaugural Hebden Bridge Blues Festival was considered by everyone concerned to be a great success.

“Many music lovers, regulars at other festivals, said they were blown away by both the quality of the music, and also the friendly welcome they received in Hebden Bridge.”
