Body probe shuts M62

PART of the M62 could be shut today by police investigating the discovery of a body near the motorway.

Officers say they may be repeating the closure of the inside lane of the eastbound carriageway which was closed between junction 22 at Rishworth and junction 23 at Huddersfield yesterday between 10am and 3pm as searches were carried out.

As reported by the Courier, Imants Tracums’s body was found in Booth Wood Reservoir next to the M62 on Friday two days after a crash on the motorway.

It is believed the 41-year-old from Leeds was driving a blue Honda Civic which crashed near junction 22 eastbound.

Anyone with information about the accident or Mr Tracums’s death should call police on 0845 6060606 or CrimeStoppers, where information can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 555111.
