FARMERS across Calderdale will tonight discuss recent changes to Bovine TB testing requirements in four local "parish" areas.
They are Sowerby Bridge, Halifax Urban Area, Elland, and Brighouse.
A meeting has been organised for farmers to find out more about the disease and the implications of the new testing requirements.
National Farmers Union group secretary at Elland, Helen Fletcher, said: "These changes to the parish testing intervals are significant, and will lead to increased costs for some producers.
"I urge all farmers to learn more about TB.
"It is important that farmers to work together to help keep this disease at bay."
The changes have been announced by Animal Health Yorkshire and Humber and came in response to an increase in the level of TB locally and will affect the Parish Testing Interval (PTI) of the four named parishes.
In this instance the PTI has changed from 48 months to 24 months.
The meeting will be held at 8.15 pm at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, and speakers will include Adam Bedford, of the NFU, and Adam Bedford, of Animal Health Yorkshire and Humber.
