A teenager will shave her head in memory of her dad who she lost to cancer in 2009.
15-year-old Becky Smith of Ovenden has raised around £50 for MacMillan ahead of the cause.
She’ll be digging out the shearers on July 27.
Becky’s late father Christopher Smith was a keen fundraiser and Becky said she wanted to follow in his footsteps.
The schoolgirl said: “I wanted to raise money and do something different.”
She said that she hopes her courageous choice to shave her hair off will lead to women becoming more empowered, as well as acting as a confidence boost to cancer patients - in particularly women who lose their hair unwillingly through receiving chemotherapy treatment.
Of shaving her haid, Becky said: “It gives women confidence and it gives the people with cancer more confidence as well.”
The teenager is set to lose her hair over the space of an hour when it’s shorn off on the afternoon of Saturday, July 27, between 1pm and 2pm at her home in Ovenden.
