Community Foundation for Calderdale is offering a new fund-raising opportunity to community groups across Calderdale.
By teaming up with national project Localgiving.com, any community group – small or large – can have their own webpage and collect cash from supporters donating over the internet.
Rachel Julian has just been appointed Localgiving.com project officer at the foundation.
She said: “Localgiving.com is an opportunity for groups to reach out to all supporters who use the internet and raise awareness of the amazing work being done every day in Calderdale.
“Through the webpage groups can tell of their new projects, events or an annual fund-raising campaign.
“Local residents, companies or new fans can make a donation - with gift aid, even if the group is not a registered charity – and the money gose directly, and safely, to the group.”
Localgiving.com also lets people search a postcode to find out who is working in the local area, aiming to srengthen our communities and let potential donors can find local groups to support.
Localgiving is a non-profit organisation – all groups are vetted by the foundations –which offers a new fund-raising tool to community groups at a time when funding is more difficult to obtain.
Steve Duncan, foundation chief executive, said: “Localgiving.com gives all groups a chance to build up a group of supporters, appeal to new people and make it clear how important it is to have a vibrant community sector, supported by us all.”
