Building collapse shuts off part of Halifax town centre

A section of Halifax town centre has been closed off due to fears over a collapsing building.

Emergency services are currently at the scene in Southgate.

Fire crews have been called to examine the structure while police officers have cordoned off the area.

Calderdale Council has confirmed that the section of the town centre has been temporarily closed due to an emergency involving a roof collapse.

Pictures show firefighters looking at the building or the ones neighbouring the former GAME stor.

The structure was badly damaged in a fire in 2017.

People in the town centre are being advised to avoid the area.
