Business for Calderdale visited Halifax RLFC at the Shay for their monthly networking event and were treated to a talk by Fax head coach Richard Marshall.
The talk included a detailed explanation of how the head coach works with his coaching team and the players to ensure they perform to the best of their ability.
Following this there was a question and answer session with Mr Marshall revealing the clear simularities between the issues a semi-professional rugby team faces and the day to day running of a commercial business.
The day included a talk from Richard Watmough, the club’s lottery sales manager, about the workings between club and the Community Foundation for Calderdale and Halifax RLFC through the Calderdale Cares Lottery.
Towards the end of the event Chris Mitchell, from the club’s Community Coaching Trust, encouraged volunteers from the audience to demonstrate his Blender Bikes and talked of the work that his team does with young and old alike promoting healthy lifestyles and sporting participation.
The forthcoming Business for Calderdale event will be held at the Orange Box and hosted by Working Wonders.
The event will celebrate the Working Wonders’ new office location as a tenant and partner of Orange Box.
Working Wonders and Orange Box are both charities in the area that help the next generation get the skills and experience needed and give them a safe place to express their talents.
The event will launch their new employer support pledge for local businesses to be involved making a difference for young people in Calderdale.
This event will be held May 10.
