Northern is launching a new scheme which offers racegoers up to £5 off racecourse entry fees when they travel by train to some of the UK’s most well-known meets, including Aintree, Beverley, Carlisle, Cartmel, Doncaster, Haydock Park, Hexham, Newcastle, Redcar, Thirsk and York.

To celebrate the scheme, Northern commissioned milliner Jenny Roberts to design an elaborate hat depicting the glamour associated with race days and the benefits of travelling by train to enjoy the spectacle. The creation can be spotted at race meetings across the Northern network this season.

Northern’s Business Development Manager, Elissa Robinson, said: “It’s great to see so many people all dressed up on our trains and enjoying themselves. With more than 80 stations offering the discount vouchers for 11 racecourses across the network, we’ve certainly increased the odds on success in the train travel stakes.

“Travelling by train to the races is perhaps one of the most relaxing and hassle-free modes of transport, with racegoersable to travel with friends and family and start the celebrations early.
