AN EDUCATIONAL supplier has gained an award for its innovative ways to boost learning.
Frog Trade Ltd, which supplies bespoke computer software to schools and colleges across the UK, has just won educational supplier of the year at the Education Resource Awards.
The awards, organised by the trade association for the sector, the British Educational Suppliers Association, are recognised as one of the highest accolades in the education industry.
They celebrate innovative approaches to learning and teaching by teachers, education institutions and organisations.
The Dean Clough firm, established 10 years ago, set up "Frog learning platforms" tailored to the needs of each school.
Students, teachers and parents can use the web-base tools, including lesson planning software for teachers, organising timetables and school diaries, creating interactive learning websites, newsletters and controlled classroom access to the internet.
Frog managing director Gareth Davies said: "We are delighted to receive the award as it is based on our customers' experience of using Frog.
"Schools using Frog change how they work, because of the innovative ways they are extending their Frog learning platforms, with community portals, departmental websites, and systems for student voice and parental engagement.
"Our award is a testament to what the schools are doing and we're very proud to be working with them."
The judges said they were impressed by the company's understanding of the needs of the schools, pupils, teachers and managers and the user-friendly way it works with them.
Association director Ray Barker said: "The awards recognise what is of real value to teaching professionals – resources that are practical, creative and supportive of their needs, as well as services and individuals that truly make a difference.
"Educationalists can rest assured that each winner demonstrates excellence within the sector," said Mr Barker.
