Halifax property developers, San Pedro Properties and Eagerlux, is to convert the Old Woollen Mill in Batley into affordable housing – 30 years after the company originally bought it.

The family-owned company’s current managing director, Andrew Mear, is investing £300,000 to transform the mill into apartments, three decades after his father John first made the purchase – fulfilling original plans to convert it into housing.

Andrew said: “Buying the mill was originally a big risk but now holds real sentimental value. It’s been part of the family business for as long as I can remember and was one of my father’s original investments.

“I’m glad we’re finally converting it into something of need and securing the building’s future.”
