A Halifax company owned by two sisters has been shortlisted in the final of The Mumpreneur Awards, an annual ceremony aimed at celebrating parents who juggle business with family life.
Mother of two Fi Woodhead runs Fi and Becs Design and Marketing alongside her sister Becs.
The company provide branding, design, copywriting and marketing services for businesses across the UK.
Fi has been shortlisted for the Boost category, which is open to businesses who can demonstrate high growth against the odds, whether that is financially, by business size or expanded their market.
Since launching two years ago, Fi and Becs have built up a portfolio of over 90 clients including gift shops, fitness studios, farm shops and plumbers.
They have also beaten larger design agencies to win two big contracts copywriting for Matalan and designing products for Mothercare.
Fi said: “I am really excited that we’ve been recognised by the Mumpreneur Awards as a business of extraordinary growth.
“When we started we never expected it to grow so quickly but we’ve found many businesses all over the UK who can’t afford large design agencies and simply want friendly, approachable marketing services at a reasonable price.”
“Our slightly alternative working hours, usually 9am to 3pm, then 7pm to 9pm, fit in really well with smaller companies who need to run their business during the daytime, and they allow us to manage our workload alongside being Mums and picking up the kids everyday at 3pm.”
“We both firmly believe that when starting your own business you can use your role as a working mum as a real strength.
“We’ve actually found that being mums has helped us win contracts with companies like Matalan and Mothercare, who are looking to engage with busy parents running households all over the UK.”
Judging Fi’s entry will be a panel of top entrepreneurs, who will decide the winners on November 14.
