A Brighouse florist has supported Yorkshire’s Superleague netball team on their Finals Day appearance at London’s Copper Box Arena.
The Yorkshire Jets, one of only eight teams in the sport’s top competition in the UK, have had their best ever season in Superleague. They played in a Roses clash with Manchester Thunder for third place in the competition at the iconic venue in The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
To show Yorkshire support, the team’s coaches and bench were determined to wear white roses and Simply Flowers provided the buttonholes which were worn for the game which, sadly, the Yorkshire Jets narrowly lost.
Lesley Adams, owner of the Commercial Street florist, said she was delighted to be able to back the team. She said: “Yorkshire Jets have had a brilliant season and we were proud that Simply Flowers was able to support their efforts and have our white roses worn at such a prestigious event.
“It was great to be able to show that Yorkshire was behind the players at the end of their best ever season when there has been more focus on netball than ever before.”
Mariana Pexton, Yorkshire Jets chairwoman, added: “We are proud to represent Yorkshire when we step out on court and wanted to wear the white roses as a symbol of that commitment to promoting our region. Everyone at Jets is hugely grateful to Lesley and her team at Simply Flowers for providing the buttonholes which were seen by the thousands who packed into the Copper Box at the weekend.”
