Award-winning barber Jonny Peevers has returned to his hometown to open his first solo venture Albion Barbers.

Located in Sowerby Bridge, the new barbershop offers a full range of men’s grooming services from cuts and beard trims to hot towel shaves.

Having spent the last five years working at one of Manchester’s most exclusive salons – Trevor Sorbie - Jonny felt the time was right to make the move back home.

He said: “I’ve achieved so much in Manchester – winning the North-West Men’s look L’Oreal XXX and being a finalist in the national competition, styling models for professional photoshoots and getting to cut the hair of celebrities and sports stars – it just feels like the right time to come back and bring all that experience with me.

“Men’s grooming is huge at the moment and I wanted to bring that level of expertise and professionalism you get in a city barbers to the menfolk of Calderdale.”

The barbershop at Ryburn Buildings features a pool table on hand and self-serve fridge stocked with ales and beers. “I wanted the shop to have a social element to it, something more than your run-of- the-mill barbershop,” added Jonny.

“We’ve already got a pool tournament planned and hopefully we’ll be doing whisky tasting evenings soon.”
