Football is the latest jigsaw in the redevelopment of the historic Shaw Lodge Mills, Halifax.
Just a stone’s throw away from the Shay Stadium the town can now boast four state-of-the-art indoor football pitches with the arrival of 3Gi Soccer.
Business partners Ash Hussain, 28, and Tariq Hussain, 29, have plugged a gap in the provision of indoor five-a-side football centres which was lacking in Halifax.
Both are keen footballers and four years ago realised there was a business opportunity to act upon and have since worked around the clock and sought the help of relatives to fund their £200,000 dream.
The four pitches are made from the latest synthetic pitch tecnology and feel and look like real grass.
Ash said they hope to work with local football clubs, schools, stage kids’ parties, corporate events and extend pitch use into other users.
Already, there has been interest from a Zumba class as the pitches provide a softer surface on which to exercise.
Both partners have been working as taxi drivers during the evenings to allow them time to prepare for opening the 40,000 sq ft premises which also include a lounge/refresment area, shower and changing facilities.
“We have swept the walls down three times as they were covered in dust and been here day in, day out, grafting,” said Ash.
“We hope to create a community hub here and have it for multi-use.”
Ash said it was really exciting to finally launch the football centre which is now taking bookings and an official opening day will be held in the near future.
“There is allsorts going on in Halifax now with Broad Street etc and it feels like we have come in at the right time and everybody who has seen the centre has been impressed,” he said.
