Master builders up for national award

A HALIFAX construction company with just two employees could win the coveted title of Master Builder of the Year for the whole of the UK.

DLE Construction Ltd gained first place in the category of Small Renovations Projects valued under 50,000 for the Yorkshire and Trent region award after being nominated by several satisfied customers.

And the firm is now through to the national round.

The company, based at Syke Lane, Causeway Foot, won the title for its oak sun room project.

David Ellis, owner of DLE Construction, said: "This is a phenomenal achievement.

"We were absolutely delighted that our customers nominated us for this prestigious award and even more so to have been awarded first place. We appreciate the value of buying locally to assist local growth within Calderdale and the majority of our suppliers are either from Calderdale or Bradford.

"The oak sun room was hand crafted by us from oak supplied by James Chambers of Halifax, architect Stott Thompson Limited of Halifax designed it and the Yorkshire stone roof was sourced locally to enable a seamless blend.

"To have our company growing out of recession and looking forward to a more prosperous future is indeed uplifting.

"Although we are a small company we are able to offer first class services, from initial consultation with our clients to discuss their needs, through the planning stage, construction and final snag."

The company has also worked on a Grade II listed chapel on Chapel Lane, Southowram.

Results of the competition, organised by the Federation of Master Builders, will be announced in March.
