An award-winning opticians was serenaded by Hebden Bridge Brass Band when they opened their brand new premises.

The new flagship store opening of Valli Opticians in Bridge Street, Hebden Bridge, hosted more than 100 people at the event.

The guests toured the new premises and were treated to a selection of tunes from the band.

The opticians, who employ 29 staff, have also teamed up with Brass Factor, an organisation which promotes the cultural heritage of Yorkshire and the brand band movement.

The Valli group was started in 2005 by Moin and Rachel Valli and has branches in Huddersfield, Wakefield and Hull as well as Hebden Bridge.

It used to have a shop in Mytholmroyd and bought popular optician’s Mr Pravin Mamtora’s practice in Hebden Bridge when he retired in 2013.

Mr Valli, whose grandfather ran a painters and decorators in Hebden Bridge after the Second World War, said: “Thanks to our Mytholmroyd store we have established roots in Calderdale and are looking forward to continuing to serve the residents of the Calder Valley and beyond at the new flagship store.

“We believe we are a bit like the people of Hebden Bridge in that we embrace traditional values and are big supporters of people shopping locally.

“We also believe the personal touch is vital and our staff go that extra mile to make sure our customers leave happy and satisfied.”
