A Halifax pub has called time temporarily whilst it undergoes a new face lift.
Skircoat Green’s Standard of Freedom is closed for ten days for a £60,000 spring refurbishment.
Drinkers will be able to return to their favourite and now more modern alehouse on Thursday March 19 for a special drinks reception with cask ale flowing where they will be welcomed by publican partners Michael and Kath Whitaker who took over in December.
The refurbishment includes a feature wall telling the story of the pub’s radical history.
The large decking area now boasts a covered seating area.
Michael said: “This is a warm, friendly local, but it needed some tender loving care.
“Our aim now is to keep the pub at the heart of the community – where it has always been – as we also attract younger locals, ramblers, cyclists and families - and perhaps even local historians.”
