A BRIGHOUSE businessman has been selected to join the Green Construction Board.
Chris Hopkins, managing director of renewable energy company Ploughcroft, will represent the SME sector.
The board was formed to oversee delivery of the Government’s Low Carbon Action Plan and promote sustainable business opportunities and economic growth.
It is also expected to provide strategic leadership on key issues and promote the UK’s excellence in green construction.
Mr Hopkins will be part of the Knowledge and Skills working group, based on his expertise in designing and delivering training courses within the renewables sector.
Business Minister Mark Prisk said: “The Board and its working groups are instrumental in taking forward the UK’s low carbon agenda, and Chris Hopkins will bring further experience and insight that will help us achieve our green objectives.”
Mr Hopkins said: “I was delighted to be appointed. It is very important that the sector has a voice on such important issues as the Green Deal and the Low Carbon Action Plan.
“I am also looking forward to getting involved in having an influence on the training and skill sector, as the industry needs to encourage SMEs to upskill in order to stimulate growth opportunities within renewable technology.”
