Staff at the Halifax store of the Jessops chain are anxiously waiting for news on their futures.

Three people are employed at the Corn Market shop and yesterday it was still unknown if it will survive.

Jessops went into administration late Wednesday putting 2,000 jobs nationally at risk.

It operates nearly 200 stores and is a specialist camera retailer.

Administrator Rob Hunt, of PwC is holding discussions with stakeholders to see if the business could be saved and hoped trading would continue.

“But, that is critically dependent on these ongoing discussions,” he said.

“However, in the current economic climate, it is inevitable there will be store closures.”

Jessops has suffered from online competition and the boom in camera phones which has hit demand for digital cameras.
