ICE-CREAM made at a Barkisland farm was given the Royal seal of approval when Princess Anne paid a visit.
The Princess Royal called at Just Jenny’s ice-cream parlour at Hazel Slack Farm, Rishworth Road, at the end of a whistlestop tour of Yorkshire.
Fittingly, she got to try the Vanilla Royal Crown flavour and see how it is made.
Ice-cream parlour owner Jenny Clarkson’s mother Jane said: “It was smashing and she was so nice and so easy to get on with. We were really pleased.”
Princess Anne was also taken on a tour of the farm and got to meet the cows whose milk it comes from, before enjoying tea and biscuits in the family’s home.
Jane said: “She looked at all the things we’ve done in the last five years.
“We did a map with pins in showing who we supply and how far we go.
“She is so interested in agriculture, she finds it very easy to talk about.
“It was all about small rural enterprises and diversification, that’s what it all stemmed from.
“We hope it’ll do us some good and we shall drum up some more trade. It’d be great if we did.”
The Princess Royal also visited Keighley, Ilkley, Beverley and Leeds on her tour.
