Team members from the Wilko store on Southgate, Halifax, have launched a brand new charity partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.

After raising over £3,500 as a team in 12 months of supporting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the store was keen to extend its support to a new worthy cause in the local area.

The store is now planning a year of activity to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support which provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support to those affected by cancer.

Debbie Foster, store manager, said: “We had a wonderful year supporting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and we hope the grand total raised by all the stores in the region made a real difference.

“As a community focused company, we’re always keen to help as many worthy causes in our local area as we can, and we chose Macmillan Cancer Support to be our new charity of the year as a team.

“We can’t wait to get going with our fundraising – there’s plenty of ideas in the pipeline and we hope our loyal customers in Halifax will support them and see us on our way to another amazing total over the next 12 months.”

Sharon Cottam, partnership manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “We’re so grateful for all the support the team will be giving us over the coming year and we’re looking forward to developing a wonderful partnership. “
