A £2 million redevelopment of a Halifax town centre office block should start next year.
Croft Myl, West Parade, will be expanded and extensively refurbished and will be able to accommodate more than 300 office staff.
The current occupiers will remain in-house during the phased redevelopment and no new users have been signed-up at this stage.
But, the move may fuel speculation regarding the future location of some Calderdale Council staff.
This month councillors announced they favoured bulldozing the Northgate House headquarters in Halifax which would leave staff needing to be re-located and potentially looking for office space. Planners have backed the Croft Myl scheme which is owned by CFK Developments of Wetherby. It includes a new double height entrance foyer and lift.
An additional 9,830 sq ft office space will be available on the top floor bringing the total accommodation to 29,450 sq ft over three levels.
Letting agent David Heap, of Walker Singleton said he was confident new occupers would be secured.
“We forsee demand for such high quality office space in the building’s location within the heart of the business community,” he said.
Croft Myl’s current tenants include Shrewdd Marketing, Prestige Recruitment, M&S Nurseries and MYCCi (storage unit only).
