Calder Valley Youth Theatre will be one of the first junior amateur theatre companies in the UK to perform Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Cats when they take to the stage in November.
The talented cast of 35 children will be performing at Halifax Playhouse from Wednesday, November 14 to Saturday, November 17.
Lead roles have been given to some of the youngest members of the company including Missy Mistoffelees, who will be played by nine-year-old Erin Hudson.
This will be the last show for some members who have now reached the age of 19, such as Sam Harris, who will play Simbleshanks the Railway Cat and Dalton Wood who will play the narrator cat, Mankustrap.
Cats director Abigail Sheldrake, said it was “fantastic” to watch members grow in confidence as rehearsals progress and see how the older members of the cast support the younger ones with tips and coaching to help them eleop their writing.
