Calderdale Council rewards hard working staff for 25 years of service

Six employees who recently reached the milestone of working for the Council for 25 years received their Long Service Awards at the event.

Read: There's still time to vote for Todmorden in Great British High Street Award bidThe Mayor of Calderdale, Coun Marcus Thompson, hosted the celebration at Halifax Town Hall on Tuesday 9 October, commending staff for their dedication.

Coun Thompson said: “It was a privilege to pay tribute to our long-serving employees, who have shown so much commitment to the Council over the last 25 years. They do a fantastic job day in, day out, making a difference across our local communities.”

The staff who attended the ceremony are:

Shakkela Ajaib-Latif: She started with the council in 1993 as a Youth Work Development Project Worker. Last year Shakkela became Team Leader for North and East Youth Work and Voice & Influence Team.

Ali DeGraaf: Ali came to the council in 1993 as a Teacher of the Deaf and has worked as a Resource Base Co-ordinator and Co-ordinator of the Hearing Impaired Team, and now works across the Sensory Team as a whole.

Jane Davy: She joined the council’s Income team and is currently Finance Manager and is responsible for schools funding.

Robert Gaukroger: Starting as an Apprentice Offset Printer at ISCAL, the council-supported coaster factory, Roger is now a Production Manager.

Andrew Rollins: Andrew’s first introduction to the Council was when he enrolled on the Youth Training Scheme where he had very varied work placements. He is now a Facility Support Officer.

All council staff are playing an important role in developing the Vision2024 for Calderdale to be a place where people can reach their potential, where talent and enterprise can thrive, where people care for each other and are able to recover from setbacks, and a place that stands out as a great destination to visit and where people can live a larger life.
