A man who has worked tirelessly for the community of Calderdale has been appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire.
Neil Davidson, 50, of Shelf, is well known for his job as corporate responsibility manager for Marshalls and his fundraising endeavours on behalf of of local charities which include Overgate Hospice and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
He accepted an invitation from the Lord Lieutenant Dr Ingrid Roscoe which was approved by the Queen.
“I was delighted to be invited in appreciation of the work that I have done,” said Mr Davidson, who is looking for a new professional challenge in the New Year when he leaves Marshalls after 32 years.
His first job as a deputy lieutenant will be on Remembrance Sunday.
