Calderdale nursery keeps its outstanding rating from Ofsted for third time

The senior management team were thrilled to retain Ofsted’s outstanding rating and put this down to their hard working, skilled and dedicated team of staff and the wonderful location and facilities.

Since opening its doors to local children in 2002, the nursery has seen numbers increase.

Facilities at the setting, including a sensory garden, potting cottage and Forest School provide excellent opportunities for outdoor learning.

Jo Brock, Operations Director said: "I am delighted and proud that Ofsted have recognised the efforts of our fabulous staff team by awarding the highest accolade for the third time. This reinforces our belief that we are offering the best possible start in life to the children and families in our care.”

Donna Hubbard, Childcare Manager, said: "I am so proud of our hard working and committed team at The Ark. The Outstanding judgement is testament to the efforts and dedication of the whole staff team on a day to day basis. The children that attend The Ark are an absolute pleasure to care for and they played a big part in ‘wowing’ the inspectors with their knowledge, imagination and confidence!"

The Ofsted inspectors’ report highlighted the excellent relationships the children have with staff and the progress the children make whilst at nursery “Staff are highly skilled at making learning exciting and at motivating children’s desire to learn and discover exceptionally well. Children settle quickly and have superb relationships with adults and each other.”

The report also recognised the contribution the management team make “Leaders have an exceptional understanding of child protection and are highly vigilant. Leaders are passionate about staff’s professional development and raising standards.”

Staff were delighted to hear comments made by parents to the inspectors: “Parents describe staff as loving, caring and understanding. They say they are, ‘Blown away’ by amazing practice that exceeds their expectations.”
