Calderdale Rising to support flooded businesses

A crowdfunding project is being launched tomorrow to support a number of the thousands of businesses across Calderdale that were affected by the Boxing Day floods.

Calderdale Rising is headed up by Business for Calderdale and other business groups in the area. More than 70 businesses are taking part in the scheme, ranging from high street shops to professional services and companies in the industrial sector, many of which are still unable to open.

Crowdfunding initiatives are different from traditional charity donations as they allow people to not only donate, but also to buy rewards.

Three Afghan rugs from The Afghan Rug Shop in Hebden Bridge, which is still closed following the devastation, have been donated to the initiative, and money can’t buy experiences will also be on offer, alongside a Hebden Supporters Card offering 20 per cent discount in a number of shops in the town, and various other perks.

The money raised will be shared between all the businesses taking part in the scheme.
