Car park opens to mark end of road widening scheme

The occasion marked the end of a tumultuous 14 months for Amanda and Michael, who have carried on with business as usual during the very disruptive A629 road widening scheme, which started in August 2017.

Coun Marcus Thompson, Mayor of Calderdale, was on hand to cut the ribbon and formally open the new car park.

The Vicar of Halifax, Revd Canon Hilary Barber, blessed the new car park.

He announced: “Thanks be to God for the renovation of the whole area. May God support Amanda and Michael as they look after the families who come here in their time of need.”

Amanda said: “I am so pleased to be able to say that the roadworks are finally over for us.

“It has been a tough year, but the love and support of our local community has seen us through it.

“We are so proud to be here for the people of Calderdale, and we cannot thank everyone enough.”
