Care Awards celebrate people in Calderdale overcoming adversity

Justin Appleyard, who helps organise the annual event, said: “We were so humbled by the nominations at this year’s Care Awards. The stories of individuals overcoming their barriers or disability so they could do the things they wanted to do made it very difficult to choose a winner. In the end, more categories were added due to their achievements.

“The awards started through a group of Community Support Services support workers who felt that certain individuals should receive a special night to celebrate their lives, their determination, and their persistence not to give up.”
