Halifax woman Elizabeth Schofield has been shortlisted for “MS Volunteer of the Year.”
She has been recognised for her efforts in supporting people with multiple sclerosis and will attend the awards ceremony in London on September 25.
Liz is a MS Support Volunteer in Calderdale and helps people access the financial assistance they need and has run MS information drop-ins.
She has also campaigned to protect local services from the threat of closure such as the Calderdale Disabled Advice Resource Team.
Liz is a full-time carer for her husband, Richard, who has MS.
Janet Hallett, an MS Specialist Nurse at Calderdale Royal Hospital nominated her and said: “Since working with Liz the support and services for MS patients and their families has been significant.
“This is due to Liz’s drive and passion to improve services and therefore improve patients’ quality of life.”
