Police officers investigating a hit and run where a woman suffered serious facial injuries have released a CCTV image of the car they want to trace moments before the victim was knocked down.

The incident occurred around 5.55am on Saturday July 30, in Cow Green, Halifax, as the woman was crossing the road and was struck by a vehicle described as a dark grey-black Citroen Picasso / Xsara.

The 20-year-old was treated by paramedics and taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and drove off towards Pellon Lane.

Police Constable Andy Barron of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team West said; “I am appealing for anyone who can help us trace this vehicle to come forward. I believe that the vehicle, and its occupants will be local to Calderdale and that it is possible that members of the public will have either seen the vehicle as it was travelling in the early hours of Saturday morning, or in the days since elsewhere across the district.

“I would urge anyone who has any information, not matter how small it may seem to speak to police. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Barron at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team W via 101 quoting 352 of 30/7. Information can also be passed to the independent anonymous crime fighting charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
