A man will undertake a selfless sponsored challenge to highlight the plight of homeless and vulnerable people in society.
John McGall, chairman of Calderdale Disabled Advice Resource Team (DART) will live off £1 per day for five days to raise awareness about the growing number of food banks in Calderdale and beyond.
It’s a cause close to John’s heart as he works tirelessly to give homeless people the support they need, whether it’s food, clothes or a listening ear.
John, 45, of Southowram, said: “I think it’s giving something back, I nearly ended up in the same situation as them.
“The challenge will give me an insight into living from a food bank. It’s easy to walk past people, but harder to engage with somebody.”
All money raised from the challenge will go to Calderdale DART, which works to give advice and information for people living with disabilities in the borough.
