LOCAL charity the Calderdale Care Scheme will receive cash boosts after being chosen as a top company’s charity of the year.
The charity has beaten nine others from across Yorkshire to be named PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) charity of the year.
The honour bags the scheme £5,000 cash - the proceeds of PwC’s summer ball.
Calderdale Care Scheme – which provides practical support for local carers – also received more than £600 when some PwC staff ran a 10k race in June.
Dr Hazel Barker, the scheme’s chief executive, said they could not believe it when they were selected.
She said: This is such a wonderful boost for Calderdale’s carers to be supported by such a prestigious company in the region.”
Roger Marsh, a senior partner at PwC, said: “Calderdale Care Scheme was voted by our staff to be our charity of the year.
“This means we all have a real vested interest in supporting this worthwhile cause.
“I am delighted that so many staff are digging deep to support a cause that has such positive impacts on local people in times in great need.
“This funding will help the charity provide even more specialised care to people who truly need it.”
