Charity says cold snap will threaten proceeds

The Mind shop in Brighouse is issuing an urgent plea for donations, as limited stock following snow this winter could leave the shelves bare and impact the fundraising potential for the mental health charity.

Winter is a particularly busy time for the charity shop as the chance to pick up cold-weather bargains draws customers in store.

However, as staff look ahead to the coming cold spell, there are serious concerns that a lack of donations will limit the charity’s opportunity to raise money through sales.

Andrew Vale, from the Mind shop in Brighouse, said: “Winter is a great time for the Mind shop in Brighouse, as customers are keen for low price, good quality seasonal items however, this year we are running low on stock.

“By donating and shopping at Mind stores you are helping support the one in four people in the UK who experience a mental health problem each year. We therefore urge you to dig out any cold-weather clothes, accessories or bric-a-brac items you can spare and drop them off to 35 Commercial Street, Brighouse as soon as you can”.

The Mind shop in Brighouse relies on local generosity for over 95 per cent of product donations and, as every bag dropped off has a cash equivalent of £30 once converted to saleable stock, the money raised through retail is an invaluable source of funding for Mind.
