The 12 mile route includes the infamous ‘Shibden Wall’ which is considered the ultimate ‘King of the Mountains’ climb of stage three.

The walkers will be taking the 1km grueling climb at a slightly slower pace than the professional peloton, which this year includes 8 teams that will use the Tour de Yorkshire as training for Tour de France in July.

The charity walk is to raise funds for The Naomi Cheri Gough Foundation in memory of Naomi who tragically lost her life 10 years ago in a road traffic accident in Halifax.

Naomi’s parents Bev and Steve Gough said: “We organise a walk ever year from Halifax to Blackpool in August, but were looking for additional ways of raising funds.

“One of our friends came up with the idea to walk the route, and we have had a lot of keen people coming on board.”

The Foundation aims to help newly-bereaved families/guardians with the financial burden they suddenly find themselves in after the death of a loved one.

Families who have lost a child aged 6 up to 25 at the time of death can approach the foundation for a one off payment towards funeral expenses.
