Choir find right notes for capital trip

All Saints CE Junior Choir are heading for London next month to sing at various tourist attractions in a bid to raise money for Alder Hey Children's Hospital charity.

The marathon bid, which will include a sleepover on HMS Belfast as well as performing in Trafalgar Square and at St Paul’s Cathedral, will take place from December 1 and 3 and is inspired by one of the pupils.

“One of our choir members, Hayden Connett (age 9) is an ambassador for the charity,” said spokesman Laura Durran.

“Hayden’s younger brother, Lewis (age 3) is a regular patient and visitor to the hospital as he was born with a rare condition called Apert’s Syndrome.

“Hayden has since become a keen fundraiser and has raised over £13,000 in the past year by organising events.

“His efforts have become infectious and we are all keen to help Hayden raise more funds for Alder Hey.”

In order to raise funds for the trip the choir has staged a music day at school and recently had a sleepover and singathon to raise further funds for the trip.

Next up is a concert on Saturday November 26 at the Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge from 2-4pm.
