Climbing the highest peakto help mum

Jonathan Hubbard organised the charity challenge at the Rokt Climbing Gym in Brighouse which saw him climb the equivalent of the world’s tallest mountain.

Along with 25 climbers, he scaled the height of 8,848m by climbing the wall 412 times.

Mr Hubbard, 49, said he had seen how life had changed for his mum Pat and dad John and wanted to raise money for the charity.

“My mum suffers from Alzheimer’s and my dad is her full time carer. Over the last few years I’ve watched their lives change dramatically,” he said.

“I decided to start fundraising events on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society to help people in my folks’ position cope better with the situation they have found themselves in.”

The Alzheimer’s Society is the leading UK care and research charity for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, their families and carers.
