women warming up for the Race for Life are being asked to give their wardrobes a workout too.
More than 2,000 runners will be raising money for Cancer Research UK in the 5k race around Savile Park, Halifax, next Sunday. Now the charity is appealing to participants to give unwanted clothes and accessories to its donation station on the day.
The items will be sold on through its charity shops.
Jenny Key, Cancer Research UK’s event manager for West Yorkshire, said: “Now the summer is here, it’s the perfect opportunity to clear out your wardrobe.
“We all know that times are tough but this is an easy way to help raise money.
“Each bag you donate could be worth up to £30, and this will go towards helping to fund Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
“The donation station is easy to find - just look out for the blue marquee and bright pink flags.”
