Collapsed wall to close Hebden Bridge road for four weeks

A road in Hebden Bridge will be closed for four weeks as essential maintenance is carried out on a collapsed wall.

Calderdale Council will repair the wall that supports the carriageway on Stubbing Drive in Hebden Bridge and is being carried out at short notice due to the recent further deterioration of the wall.

The works will take place from today (Tuesday June 30), and to allow our contractor Jagger Construction Services to carry out the repairs safely, it is necessary to close the road between the hours of 9.15am and 3.15pm during the week.

It is hoped the works will be completed within four weeks, but during the closure times no vehicles will be able to access the road and any vehicles already parked on the road will need to be moved by 9.15am if they are needed during the day.

The waste collections service is aware of the closure and will make necessary arrangements to collect refuse around the closure times. Access for emergency services will be provided if required.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, Councliior Barry Collins, said: “I’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while these essential works are being carried out.

“Unfortunately the road closure is unavoidable, but the work will be completed as quickly as possible, and we will do all that we can to minimise disruption to road users, residents and businesses in the area while it is taking place.”
